Nigeria is a country blessed with numerous natural resources, including solid minerals. The country could be classified as a wealthy country, but poor leadership has caused the country a lot
The list of solid mineral resources found in Nigeria is inexhaustible, though we would attempt to list some of them here and the States they are primarily found.
1. Bitumen: This could be found in Lagos, Ondo, Ogun and Edo States.
2. Coal: Enugu and Ondo States.
3. Columbite: Abia and Nassarawa States.
4. Feldspar: Kaduna, Kogi and Plateau States.
5. Gold: located in Ebonyi, Edo, Oyo and Osun States.
6. Granite is found in most states in Migera.
7. Kaolin: Found in Kogi, Ekiti and Ondo States.
8. Limestone: Ogun, Kogi and Anambra States.
9. Lead/Zinc Found in Abia, Akwa Ibom and Ebonyi States.
10. Salt: can be found in Cross-River and Ebonyi States.
11. Tin: Plateau and Kano States.
As I noted earlier, this list is not an exhaustive one; this only highlights the wide varieties of mineral resources available in Nigeria.
If not for leadership lapses in Nigeria, these minerals could have been explored and exploited to benefit Nigeria and improve her economy.
We shall later in our next publication discuss some of these minerals on individual bases to understand how each could be put to better economic use for Nigeria.
